Congrats, Paloma Kwiatkowski! The Vancouver native has just been announced as Thalia Grace in the Percy Jackson film series. According to Deadline, this was Paloma’s very first audition and attends high school in the area. In the book, Thalia Grace is the daughter of Zeus who ran away from home at the age of 10. As she and her friends, Luke, Annabeth and protector Grover approached Half-Blood Hill, the monsters they were outrunning caught up to them. She sacrificed her life for her friends, and her father, Zeus, took pity on her before she died and transformed her into a white pine tree to prevent her death. In other casting news, Nathan Fillion will play messenger God Hermes, and Anthony Head has replaced Pierce Brosnan as Chiron, the centaur who runs Camp Half-Blood Source: Just Jared Jr Written on Mar 20, 2012 by Angelic
Firefly hero Nathan Fillion has signed on to join The Three Musketeers hero Logan Lerman for Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters the sequal to 2010′s Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. The Castle star will play Greek god Hermes, taking over the role from Dylan Neal who played him in the original film according to The Hollywood Reporter. Fillion joins new recruits Mary Birdsong, Yvette Nicole Brown and Missi Pyle who will play The Fates in the sequel that will see Logan Lerman reprise his role as the titular Percy Jackson, while Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T Jackson and Jake Abel are expected to return as well. As well as Castle, Fillion can be heard as Green Lantern in the direct to DVD film Justice League: Doom and has Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing in post production. Back in January Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Connelly signed on to headline indie family drama “Writers”, playing exes and parents, and now it looks like their children may have been found. Variety reports that Lily Collins and Logan Lerman are the new additions to the cast, along with Nat Wolff, Liana Liberato and Kristen Bell and even a cameo from novelist Stephen King. “Writers”, indeed. Josh Boone wrote and will make his directorial debut on the film. “Writers” is touted to be a “funny and touching tale of a fractured family trying to rediscover one another over the course of a tumultuous year.” Kinnear is the successful novelist and Connelly plays his ex-wife. Collins plays their college student daughter, studying writing herself, who is pursued by a fellow aspiring writer (Lerman). Connelly and Kinnear have another son, who is a teen, so Wolff may presumably play him. King will cameo as – who else? – himself, and no word on who the other new additions will be playing. Filming is set to begin on March 12 in North Carolina. Collins will be seen later this month as Snow White in revisionist fairy tale “Mirror Mirror” opposite Armie Hammer and recently wrapped up shooting on indie dramedy “The English Teacher” opposite Michael Angarano and Julianne Moore. She’s also in talks to play Juliet in comedy “Rosaline” and will will test for the female lead in Akiva Goldsman’s sci fi epic “Winter’s Tale” next week as well. Lerman will soon be seen in the highly anticipated adaptation of “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”, and will return for “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters”, reprising his role from the original Greek myth teen novel adaptation. The popular book Perks of Being A Wallflower was adapted for film last year and is due to be released sometime in 2012 by Summit. But now there’s been a roadbump: The film received a ‘R’ rating from the United States’ MPAA, which alienates many of the potential moviegoers who’ve read the book. So Summit intends to appeal the decision. Rope of Silicon notes that the film was rated ‘R’ for “teen drug and alcohol use, and some sexual references.” Larry Richman, a well-sourced movie writer, says the film’s director Stephen Chbosky has intended all along for the film to be rated PG-13. Would you see the film even if it were rated R? Is it an issue Summit should be concerned with? Parents may not allow their kids to see it. Emma Watson plays Sam, Logan Lerman plays Charlie, and Nina Dobrev plays Candance. Source: Hypable Written on Feb 21, 2012 by Angelic
Despite lackluster box office returns for the first film, Fox 2000 are continuing with their Percy Jackson franchise. The first flick “Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief“, based on the book by Rick Riordan, was released in 2010 and starred Logan Lerman as Jackson, a teenager who discovers he’s the descendant of a Greek god and sets out on an adventure to settle an on-going battle between the gods. Also starring Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson and Jake Abel, the second film, “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters” sees Jackson and his friends head into the Sea of Monsters to find the mythical Golden Fleece. Variety reports that Douglas Smith, star of TV’s “Big Love”, has joined the cast although no word yet on who, or what, he might be playing. Smith is a relative unknown to Hollywood audiences. The young actor played a young Brendon Fraser in 1999′s “Blast From The Past” and then various bit roles on TV shows. In the next year, the 26 year old has the sci-fi thriller “Antiviral” with Sarah Gadon and Caleb Landry Jones, and the amusingly-titled “The Boy Who Smells Like Fish“, alongside Zoe Kravitz. For Oyster issue #95 Alexi Wasser caught up with heartthrob Logan Lerman (swoon) and touched on some very interesting topics including one night stands, older women and the ‘man pill’. If only he’d shown us his stomach too… Not all that long ago, in a house nestled in the Hollywood Hills, I did something that will make me the envy of tweenage girls all over the world: I interviewed 19-year-old actor Logan Lerman (of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and The Three Musketeers). We discussed everything from girls, to dating, to love, to sex. Yes, I’m well aware that all of these topics come under the same umbrella, but these are the things I’d want to read about in an interview with a cute actor I had a crush on! Alexi Wasser: So, I’m going to ask you a lot of questions, some of which are completely inappropriate and none of my business. Feel free to say “pass” when you feel uncomfortable and don’t want to answer. OK? Is Logan Lerman your real name or a stage name? Like the Kardashians with KK. What’s the craziest fan story you have? Do you have Google Alerts? Robert Pattinson has admitted to having Google Alerts in an interview… He has. Are you on Facebook or Twitter? As a male actor, do you suffer from body dysmorphia? Do you feel pressure to have a six-pack/eight-pack? Do you have a six-pack? Can I see your stomach? Are you single? What is the longest relationship you’ve ever been in? Eight months? What is a first date with you like? How do you woo a girl? Filed in Recent News | 7 Comments

He’s made it past the often impossible hump, from child actor to fully fledged male lead, but the best thing about Logan Lerman is he’s not blase about beating the odds. The young star of the new Three Musketeers movie is all too cognizant of his statistically unlikely success, and appreciates every single opportunity he’s ever been given, from landing the starring role in the Vancouver-shot Percy Jackson and the Olympians, to playing opposite Orlando Bloom and Milla Jovovich in the latest take on Alexandre Dumas’ swordsmen. “I realize this wasn’t even a realistic career option for me until about two years ago,” says Lerman, who plays D’Artagnan, the “fourth musketeer.” “I was close to graduating from high school, and, at that point, acting was still really just a hobby for me,” he says. “I had no real plans, but opportunities were presented to me, and I decided to take them.” Those opportunities were 2010′s Percy Jackson, which is currently gearing up for a sequel with Lerman in the lead once more, as well as Three Musketeers and a new movie for John Malkovich’s production company, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, with Emma Watson (Harry Potter) and Paul Rudd (Our Idiot Brother). “I never imagined being able to be in movies like this,” he says, gesturing at the movie poster for Three Musketeers propped on an easel. “I think not having any expectations about the future was a good thing. I’ve always tried to look at it from a work perspective, and just embrace every moment and every job that came along.” Lerman says he made the decision to defer university for a while to pursue his options, but he’s not ignorant of the consequences. “They say every year you put off university is like three years, if you want to go back, but for now, this seems like the right path.” Lerman is 19, but he looks more like 16, as a result of his smooth white skin and baby-blue eyes framed by long black lashes. He grew up in Los Angeles, but he has the feel of a kid from the Midwest: straightforward, honest, wholesome and just a little bit shy. “I am, I guess (a little bit shy),” he says, blushing. • Read full story » Filed in Recent News | 0 Comments

Logan Lerman is no new kid on the block, but he’s really rallying to become one of Hollywood’s unstoppable stars as he makes the transition from child star to adult actor. This week he hits theaters in the period action flick, “The Three Musketeers,” and for that we’re naming him our Hump Day Hottie. Vital stat: This 19-year-old grew up in the 90210 zip code (that’s Beverly Hills, for those completely living under a rock). Fact: He attended New York University for a minute where he studied creative writing. For now, his studies have been put on hold, which is sort of ironic since being a Hump Day Hottie is not the only honor that Logan has won this year. He was also declared Class President of our New Class. Where you might have already seen him: Logan has a pretty extensive resume for such a young man, including, “What Women Want,” “Riding in Cars With Boys,” “3:10 to Yuma,” “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” and the TV series “Jack and Bobby.” Why you should take notice of him now: This week he stars in “The Three Musketeers,” where he’s teaming up with the legendary swashbucklers to defeat a new villain. But, that’s not the only role we’re getting excited for. He’s also set to star in the highly anticipated “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” as well as “The Only Living Boy in New York” and “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters.” Source: Hollywood Crush Written on Oct 14, 2011 by Angelic
